You are allowed to invest R33 000 tax free annually, but not more than R500 000 in your lifetime. Withdrawals do not mean that you can invest more. If you invest R33 000 in a year and withdraw R15 000, you have still invested your full amount for the year. The Effective Annual Cost (EAC) is a measure which has been introduced to allow you to compare the charges you incur and their impact on investment returns when you invest in different Financial Products. It is expressed as an annualised percentage. The EAC is made up of four components, which are added together, as shown in the table below. The effect of some of the charges may vary, depending on your investment period. The EAC calculation assumes that an investor terminates his or her investment in the Financial Product at the end of the relevant periods shown in the table.

You can nominate beneficiaries to receive the proceeds of this investment in the event of your death. Note that in terms of the Pension Funds Act of 1956, in the event of death prior to retirement, the Board of Trustees of the Old Mutual Unit Trusts Retirement Annuity Fund has the discretion to allocate your death benefit, once they have taken into account the needs of your dependants and the beneficiaries that you nominated, and other relevant information. Although the Board of Trustees will attempt to follow your wishes as far as possible , its decisions as to who the recipients of the benefit will be may differ from the beneficiaries you have nominated. For this reason it is important that you regularly update your Beneficiary Nomination Form.
